Kerns focuses his practice primarily in the area of administrative law, for which he serves as chair. He joined the firm in 1987 following his tenure with two Ohio attorneys general, where he served as director of personnel and section chief; he currently serves as special counsel to the Ohio attorney general. For thirty years, Kerns has been active on behalf of many statewide, local and judicial candidates.
Administrative Law
Kevin’s broad-based experience in administrative law includes representing professionals in proceedings before licensing boards and commissions, assisting companies and individuals in obtaining professional licenses in Ohio and nationally, appearing on behalf of entities in rule-making proceedings and representing clients in health care audits. Kevin has appeared before the Board of Pharmacy, Medical Board, Real Estate Commission, Department of Job and Family Services, Elections Commission, Dental Board, Nursing Board, Liquor Control Commission, Department of Commerce and other state agencies, boards and commissions.
Government Affairs
Kevin assists companies and individuals in matters pending before state and local agencies, including contract procurement, issue education, and statutory and rule interpretation. Under Kevin’s leadership, the firm’s government and legislative affairs group combines experience, a team-oriented approach and bipartisan access to deliver superb results to its clients.
Litigation
Kevin represents clients in state court matters, including administrative law appeals and personal injury and commercial litigation for various long-standing clients of the firm.
