McClatchey has been a leader in establishing and growing the firm’s Creditors' Rights & Bankruptcy practice area, which he chairs. He has been with the firm since 1985.
Creditors' Rights & Bankruptcy
Larry’s practice emphasizes the protection of rights of both creditors and debtors in business transactions and in litigation, with special emphasis and experience in handling bankruptcy court matters. He serves as general counsel to National Association of Credit Management—OHIO and is also a member of the panel of chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Ohio since 1988.
Additionally, Larry has represented numerous small business clients in bankruptcy matters since 1980, and is especially interested and proficient in small business reorganizations under chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code. He has also been involved in many large chapter 11 cases, advising clients in cases of national interest in a number of states; some of these clients include Hechinger’s, Montgomery Ward, National Steel. Phar-Mor, Federated Department Stores, Fleming and Jay Foods/Select Snacks.
Some of Larry’s other recent clients have included residential mortgage servicing companies and national financial institutions, including issuers of mortgage-backed securities caught up in the mortgage crisis. His wide-ranging practice has included agricultural law issues, foreclosures and all manners of commercial litigation, including collections.
